This section highlights the examples that prove the harmony and consistency between modern scientific discoveries and principles and a Book revealed more than 14 centuries ago to an unlettered man, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Bats Teach Us about Safety

In the design of RoBat, other characteristics of bats were also considered to utilize the echoes in the best way possible. Bats move their ears to determine the frequency intervals of sound waves, and in this way they easily overcome the obstacles in front of them and find their prey and catch it. RoBat was also equipped with such ultrasonic detectors to have a perfect mechanism like that seen in bats.

The Mother-of-pearl and Damage Decrease

In the development of materials to be used in the production of strong impellers in jet engines, the mother-of-pearl’s structure is imitated. 95% of the mother-of-pearl on the inner layer of many shellfish’s shells is chalk, but mother-of-pearl is 3,000 times stronger than chalk thanks to its composite structure. When this structure is examined, it is seen that microscopic tablets, only eight microns (1 micron=10–6 meters) in width and one half of a micron in depth, are arranged as layers.

The Returning Sky

The word “rajaai” interpreted as “return” in Qur’an translations has meanings of “sending back” or “returning.” As is known, the atmosphere surrounding the Earth consists of many layers. Each layer serves an important purpose for the benefit of life on Earth. Research has revealed that these layers have the function of turning the materials or rays they are exposed to back into space or back down to the Earth. Now let us examine, employing a few fitting examples, this “returning” function of the layers encircling the Earth.

Heavy Clouds in the Qur’an

The weight of clouds can reach quite astonishing proportions. For example, a cumulonimbus cloud, commonly known as the thunder cloud, can contain up to 300,000 tons of water. The fact that a mass of 300,000 tons of water can remain aloft is truly amazing. Attention is drawn to the weight of clouds in other verses of the Qur’an

Rain by Design

Certainly, any object that hits the ground with that speed would cause great damage. If rain happened to fall in the same way, all harvested lands would be destroyed, residential areas, houses, and cars would be damaged, and people would not be able to walk around without taking extra precautions.

Preliminary Location of the Testes in the Fetus

Significant details emerge when we look at the information in the Qur’an concerning human creation; the term ‘spurting fluid’ in Surat at-Tariq refers to semen. The above verses describe the preliminary location of the testes in the embryo, and their embryological origin in detail, with perfect accuracy

The Olive: A Source of Good Health (Part 1 / 2)

The expression “mubarakatin zaytoonatin” in the above verse describes the olive as being “plentiful, sacred, auspicious, providing countless blessings.” Olive oil, referred to in the term “zaytuha,” is known as one of the most highly recommended types of oil by all experts, especially for coronary and arterial health. Its health benefits may be summarized as follows:

Content of the Sun: Hydrogen and Helium

The Sun is made up of 70% hydrogen (H) and 28% helium (He) atoms.1 Other substances make up less than 2%. Six hundred million tons of hydrogen are converted into 596 million tons of helium in the Sun every second. The remaining 4 million tons is given off as heat and light energy. In that sense, the first thing that comes to mind when the Sun is mentioned is the letters H (hydrogen) and He (helium) that stand for the Sun.

Benefits of Reduced Movement at Night

Movement at the molecular level also declines at night. The radiation emitted by the Sun during the day activates the atoms and molecules in Earth’s atmosphere and causes them to achieve higher energy levels. As darkness falls, the atoms and molecules fall to lower energy levels and start to give off radiation. These facts are, in all probability, indicated Surat al-An`am 96 and reveal yet another of the Qur’an’s countless miracles.
