This section highlights the examples that prove the harmony and consistency between modern scientific discoveries and principles and a Book revealed more than 14 centuries ago to an unlettered man, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Our World is Sinking

It is generally agreed that changes in climate we see today are largely caused by human activity. Sea levels started rising in the late 1800s soon after the industrial revolution with the burning of coal, gas and other fossil fuels for the energy needed.

Wood and Fire: Can They Be Obtained Artificially?

The hard and resistant nature of wood is the result of the cellulose fibres it contains. Because cellulose is hard and insoluble in water. It is this property of cellulose that makes the use of wood in construction so advantageous. Cellulose, described as a “contractible and incomparable substance,” has for centuries been used a great deal more than other materials in keeping wooden buildings standing, other buildings, bridges and many other structures.

Islamic Perspective on Animal Welfare

According to Census of Marine Life scientists, there are an estimated 8.7 million living species on earth, and yet the Qur’an teaches us that humans are the highest of creation. With this elevated status comes an elevated responsibility. This responsibility encompasses not only how we treat our own bodies, actions, and interactions with each other, but also how we treat other creations such as animals. Yes, animals have rights and a legitimate place in Islam.

The Electrical Order in Our Bodies

In the electrical equipment we use in everyday life, the strength of the electricity used—that is, the voltage level—needs to be kept at a specific level. However, these levels are regulated not by the machine itself, but once again, adjusted by special, man-made devices

The Region that Controls our Movements

The expression “the lying, sinful forelock” in the above verse is most interesting. Research carried out in recent years has revealed that the prefrontal area, which is responsible for the management of particular functions of the brain, lies in the frontal part of the skull. Scientists only discovered the functions of this area, which the Qur’an pointed out 1,400 years ago, in the last 60 years. If we look inside to the brain at the front of the head, we will find the frontal area of the cerebrum.
