Islam, the Modern Alternative (P. 1)

Humans lack perfect knowledge as well as perfect wisdom. No matter how hard we try, we will never attain the perfect way of life by our own thinking and interpretation. This is the reason why Allah being the Most Wise, sent us the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad (SAW),2 to show us this practical and organized way of life. Allah, being Perfect, in His Wisdom and Knowledge, perfected a complete way of life for us. He has set His limitations and rules, all of which are beneficial to mankind, and therefore, do not need changing:

Toward a Caring and Just Muslim Society

All human beings share the same essential qualities. Therefore, any type of contact or interaction you have with another person which disregards that person’s essential humanity is bound to fail. At the same time, it is good to know that you have a starting point. You are a human being too, so there is so much that you already know about the other person: those essential needs, sentiments, experiences and feelings that we all share.

Reward of the Oppressed

Then the verses speak about those immigrants who were forced to leave their countries behind and relocate in foreign ones due to the oppression they suffered from at the hands of their oppressors in their own lands. They were obliged to leave their homeland behind, family and friends, seeking only the reward from Allah as they are after His pleasure by maintaining their faith in Him. These verses can be understood in light of the migration to Ethiopia during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and in light of the forced migration by current Muslims who were forced to leave their countries behind such as Syrians, Egyptians, Iraqis, Palestinians and others. So, these verses are suitable for happenings in the past and in the present time; this is the case with nearly all verses of the Qur’an.

Why Should Muslims Lower Their Gaze?

Islam wants to establish a clean society where desire is not aroused at every moment, and erotic scenes are not displayed everywhere. Continual excitement of the sexual urge leads to an insatiable desire that may become unstoppable. A stealthy look, a seductive move, flagrant make-up and thinly-dressed bodies are meant only to add to such insatiable and uncontrolled excitement. Thus, prudence and self control are heavily taxed. Hence, there remains one of two alternatives: either total permissiveness that disregards all checks and values, or psychological

Aids for Lowering One’s Gaze

The human self or soul does not get bored of moving, going around, demanding and laboring. Consequently, if you do not occupy it with what is right and righteous, it will definitely occupy you with that which is evil and debaucherous. And, if you do not try to take it to an elevated status, it will certainly drag you down to the lowest of all positions. Hence, you should determine what you need and want, then start to do your best to implement your highest and noblest dreams.

Why Do Muslims Say ‘Alhamdulillah’ After Sneezing?

Indeed, sneezing releases vapors that were trapped in the head which, if they were to remain there, would cause him pain and sickness. That is why Islam tells Muslims to say Alhamdulillah and praise Allah the Almighty for this blessing. Join us to listen to Dr. Muhammad Salah explaining all about this issue in the following short but rich video.

Can Birds Help Muslims Free Al-Aqsa Mosque?

Unless Muslims perfectly believe in Almighty Allah, possess the necessary spiritual and material powers, and leave no stone unturned in this regard, they will never be able to protect their sacred places or restore Al-Aqsa Mosque to their fold. This lesson is derived from the conduct of the flocks of birds mentioned in Surat Al-Fil. Each bird was carrying three small stones: two stones with its feet and one in its beak. In that way, the birds exerted themselves and did all in their power to defend the Sacred House.

Six Signs that Prove Muhammad’s Prophethood

The good biography and high morals as well as the noble qualities that distinguished him. He was known before becoming a Prophet as a truthful and honest person, although the community where he lived was a society of ignorance. This was, perhaps, the most important sign of his prophecy. He was not known to have ever lied on people. So, why should he lie on behalf of the Lord by claiming that he was a Prophet, if he was not a real Prophet?

Fulfilling One’s Obligations to Allah

If a Muslim swears, he should swear by Allah alone and nothing other than Him. If he makes an oath, he should fulfill it and not to break his vow no matter what. These are from among the noblest morals and ethics of Islam which is a way of life that encompasses everything in the life of a human being from birth to death. The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said what may mean, “Whoever swears by anything other than Allah has associated something with Him (shirk).” (Narrated by Imam Ahmed)
