A Life of Trouble and Anguish

This is exactly what befalls the ignorant as a result of their own preferences. However, no matter what befalls them, they do not realize what is happening to their lives. Most of them only realize it after spending a whole life devoted to worldly pleasures, at the very time when they feel death is close. To their sorrow, however, it is too late. Even then, the grief does not stop there.

Striving for God Consciousness / Taqwa in Ramadan

Fasting the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. These are the foundation upon which the entire structure of Islam is built. These consist of the declaration of faith, prayer, fasting Ramadan, paying of Zakah [the annual charity payment], and performing the pilgrimage to Makkah, known as hajj.

The Temporary Nature of Life

While the believer also enjoys those blessings that are described as the pleasures of this world, unlike the disbeliever, he does not consider them the purpose of his life. He may desire to possess them, but only for the purpose of giving thanks to God, and to use them to earn God’s consent. He does not pursue out of greed. Because, he knows

Interest Rather than Honesty and Sincerity

People who are ignorant assume a self-sacrificing attitude towards their friends only when they believe it is advantageous. For a temporary period of time, they pretend to be a loyal friend. Yet, once the advantage has been derived from this relationship they assume a cool and distant attitude, implying that they no longer need such a bond.

Spirit of Generosity

Real generosity is not dependent so much on income as it is on the capacity of the heart. There are many who have the means to give, but not the heart to give. And there are many, who, the more they have the less they give. Henry Ward Beecher warned; “watch, lest prosperity destroy generosity”.

Is God Near to Man?

God’s Messenger, the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) also reminded Muslims when they prayed that God is very close to them by saying, “You are calling a Hearer, One very close by; The One Who you are calling is closer to each one of you.”(Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

The Hypocrites and the Fitnah They Cause

The basic characteristic of hypocrites is their indulgence in fitnah. The Arabic version of the word “hypocrite” is “munafiq”, which means “the one who makes a division.” Dividing believers is a fitnah as well as a great sin. There are verses in the Qur’an stating that hypocrites try to practice fitnah among believers

Ignorant Societies Lead a Troubled Life

In the ignorant societies, people lead troubled lives. This is surely a direct consequence of not putting one’s trust in Allah. Not believing in Allah, they assume they can avoid their responsibilities towards Allah and still enjoy all the worldly pleasures of life. Nevertheless, to their disappointment, one thing bothers them greatly: stress.

Attaining the Good Pleasure of God

Since it is God Who created man, provided him his sustenance and all other such blessings, and Who promised him eternal life in the hereafter, it would be an act of ingratitude for man to seek the pleasure of others, or the gratification of his own self, as his primary aim. The punishment for such ungratefulness is eternal hellfire.
