What is Sujud Ash-Shukr in Islam?

Is it necessary to be in a state of taharah (purification) when offering Sujud Ash-Shukr?

Sujud Ash-Shukr (Prostration of Thankfulness)

Sujud Ash-Shukr consists of one Sajdah (prostration) which is offered immediately the way he is and praises Allah with whatever (words) he can for that blessing that He gave him, out of thanks to Him.

Ibn Qudamah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: the description, rulings and conditions of Sujud Ash-Shukr are the same as those for sujud At-Tilawah (prostration required when reciting certain verses of Quran). (Al-Mughni)

It was narrated from Abu Bakrah that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) heard news that made him happy, or for which one should be happy, he would fall down prostrate in gratitude to Allah, the Blessed and Exalted. (Ibn Majah)

What is Sujud Ash-Shukr and what is the ruling on it? What are the conditions? Do you have to face the Qiblah (direction of prayer)? Do you need wudu’ (ablution)? What should you say when performing it?
