Menstruating Women in the Last Ten Days of Ramadan

Question:

What should a menstruating woman do in the last ten days of Ramadan and Laylat Al-Qadr (Night of Decree)?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.

Laylat Al-Qadr (The Night of Decree) is the greatest night of all nights. Various narrations mention when it can be or will be. The most accepted narrations indicate that it will be sometime in the last ten nights of Ramadan, most likely to be the odd nights.

`A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to observe I`tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan and say, “Seek Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree) in the odd nights out of the last ten nights of Ramadan.” (Al-Bukhari

To her who has menstruated on the last ten days of Ramadan and got grieved and felt sorrow: do not be sad or miserable, O sister. It was narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said about menstruation, “Verily this is a matter Allah has written upon the girls of Prophet Adam (Allah bless him)…” (Al-Bukhari)

It should be noted that you are willing to worship Allah and that you wish your period came later so that you could have worshiped Allah is a sign of your intention. And in Islam, just making an intention, a good intention, counts as a full good deed in and of itself. So, you aren’t really losing out on it!
