How should people prepare for the Hereafter? How could one find the way of guidance? What is meant by Al-Huamazah?

Learn how to correct your recitation of the Qur’an

Almighty Allah says:

…and recite the Qur’an with measured recitation. (Al-Muzzammil 73:4)

In another verse:

Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. (Al-Baqarah 2:121)

Welcome to a new interesting episode of “Correct Your Recitation” series with Sheikh Muhammad Salah and his guests. First Sheikh Isma`il recites the full surahs of Al-`Asr (the Declining Day), Al-Humazah (the Traducer) and Al-Fil (the Elephant). Surat Al-`Asr is the 103rd chapter of the Qur’an with three verses. It is a Makki surah that explains the way to success and the way to ruin. Imam Ash-Shaf`i said, “If people considered this surah well, it will be sufficient in the way of guidance.” This surah advises those who believe to act collectively to strengthen their position in the Hereafter. It implies asking and inviting people to do righteous deeds and stopping them from falling into sin and disbelief.

Surat Al-Humazah is the 104th chapter of the Qur’an with nine verses. It is a Makki surah that sheds some light on the importance of restraining one’s tongue. The surah also explains the evils of preoccupying oneself with worldly wealth. Surat Al-Fil is the 105th chapter of the Qur’an with five verses. It was revealed at the early era of mission in Makkah. It is a clear example of Allah’s protection for His House (Al-Ka`bah) by destroying the Abyssinian army that came from Yemen with great elephants, through a flock of birds.

As usual Dr. Muhammad Salah begins his talk by reflecting on the meanings of the surahs. He narrates the following hadith,

It was narrated that Abu Madeenah Al-Darimi said: When two men among the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) met, they did not part until one of them recited to the other: “By Al-`Asr (the time). Verily, man is in loss” (Al-‘Asr), then one would say salam to (greet) the other. (Abu Dawud)

Enjoy watching this interesting talk with Dr. Muhammad Salah to know new rules of tajweed.
