The Eternal Challenge: The Prophet & Book

What is the relation between the Prophet Muhammad and the Qur’an? How did the Prophet challenge the pagans of Makkah? Did the Prophet have a control over the revelation brought to him?

Welcome to a new interesting episode of the series entitled “Qur’an: The Eternal Challenge” with Sheikh Sohaib Saeed about the miracles and challenges of the Qur’an.

In this episode named “The Prophet & Book”, Sheikh Sohaib begins it by mentioning the relation between the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad over twenty three years through the angel Gibreel. This fact is mentioned in the Qur’an, Almighty Allah says:

indeed, the Qur’an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger. (At-Takwir 81:19)

The pagans of Makkah used to challenge and ask the Prophet to change some verses from the Qur’an, but this is something beyond the Prophet’s power as the Qur’an is the Speech of Allah. The Almighty Allah says:

And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, “Bring us a Qur’an other than this or change it.” Say, [O Muhammad], “It is not for me to change it on my own accord. I only follow what is revealed to me…(Yunus 10:15)

The Almighty Allah instructed the Prophet to receive, comprehend and memorize the Qur’an, and not be rush in reciting it. The Qur’an says:

We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget, Except what Allah should will. (Al-A`la 87:6-7)

Enjoy watching this talk with Sheikh Sohaib Saeed to know more about the relationship between the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Qur’an in light of the Qur’an itself.
